In the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful. Islam has always stressed the importance of knowledge and education. The first words revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) were ‘Read’. Allah praises the scholars in the Qur’an as being the most pious and God-fearing of individuals and makes them witnesses to His own oneness.

In numerous hadiths, the Prophet (peace be upon him) discusses the merits of seeking knowledge. He mentions that the best of people are those who learn and teach the Qur’an, seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every male and female Muslim, and everything in the heavens and earth, even the fish in the sea and the ants underground supplicate for the scholar. It is with this essential and intrinsic principle of knowledge and education in mind that Green Lane Masjid has decided to embark upon this ambitious project of opening a secondary school for boys.
